5 Reasons You Need a Wedding Website

It is no secret that Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on the wedding industry world. With large gatherings banned couples have been forced to make other plans for their Spring and Summer 2020 nuptials. Some have opted to postpone the whole thing, others are cancelling altogether and just going to the courthouse, while others are having small ceremonies now with their immediate family members on their original date and plan to have the party to celebrate with the remaining guests at a later date. With all these changes happening, I am sure that many couples are so thankful for their wedding websites, while others that did not create one to begin with, are wishing that they did. Having a website makes it so easy to update all of their guests on the change of plans! Which brings me to the first of my 5 reasons you need a wedding website if you are planning a wedding:

1) Easily Update Guests on Plans: Wedding Websites are easy to make and free on many different platforms. You choose your own url and then make sure to share it on your save-the-dates, or as enclosure in your invitations. You will be able to include all of the important information your guests will need about your wedding weekend. So, of course date, time, and location. Brides affected by Covid-19 that had websites have more than likely been able to easily update their guests via the website of all of the new information. The changed date and time, possibly even a new venue if their previous one couldn't reschedule.

2) Speaking of Location: Wedding websites are a great place to share detailed information about the location of your wedding weekend events. You will probably be able to even link up a Google Map. And perhaps there will be multiple locations for everything--like the Welcome BBQ at your new in-laws home, ceremony at the family church, and reception downtown. Your guests will thank you for making their travels to your events so easy!

3) RSVP Counting: Most of the popular wedding website platforms like Minted, The Knot, Wedding Wire, or Zola, will have an option for you to add an RSVP page. So if you aren't working with a full service planner who would be more than likely taking care of this tedious task for you, then this is such a huge perk of having a wedding website! You will be able to upload your whole guest list to the system. Then, when guests look up your website they will be able to click on the RSVP Page and look up their invitation by name and respond (hopefully that they accept!) Then you will have all the responses in one place.

4) Dress Code: Letting guests know what to expect as far as the level of formality of your event is important. No one wants to show up under-dressed or be super uncomfortable because they are overdressed. Of course you can include a line on your invites to say "Black Tie" or "Sunday Best" but if you do not want to or do not have the room on your invitation to do so, the website is a great place to let your guests know what the event will be like.

5) Registry Info: Listing your wedding registry info on your invitations is not proper etiquette. But no one needs 5 toasters so we all know how helpful having a registry list to shop from to see what has been bought so far and what is still needed. Your guests will love being able to click on direct links to your registries Or hey, maybe you and your soon-to-be husband would rather not receive traditional wedding gifts because you already have all the home-y things. A lot of wedding website platforms allow you to set up a honeymoon fund in place of a traditional registry.

So I said 5 reasons but here is a bonus one just because: Having a wedding website is also just a lot of fun! You can tell the world about your love story, your awesome proposal and put your swoon-worthy engagement photos for your friends and family to peruse. You also can start letting your guests in on your wedding style by matching your colors or aesthetic. Wedding websites are a great tool and there is really no reason to not go ahead and make one. It is super easy and you will be happy you did!
